Breaking stigmas and creating relationships through photography.
During July 2018 I took part in a volunteer program called IPP (International People’s Project), organised by a worldwide NGO called CISV which I have been part of for nearly 10 years now. This consists of working with 1 or more local NGOs and creating a project to be exhibited at the end of the program in an effort to promote and encourage people to support those NGOs. In my case, I went to São Paulo, Brazil and we collaborated with an NGO called Galera Do Click which aims to facilitate adults with Down Syndrome to progress in the photography world. By taking part in professional activities or simply by spending a couple hours a day at the NGO’s office photographing each other, these people can feel supported, accomplished and most importantly, feel like they belong somewhere.
